Star Denies Anti-Vax Position Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Coronavirus Documentary

The acclaimed actor has lent his narration to a new documentary that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and praises ex- health official RFK Jr.

The Feature's Disputed Origins

Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was linked to a faulty batch of the influenza shot.

The book's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with far-right figure Alex Jones. He recently posted praising Neeson's participation in the documentary.

An Unequivocal Rebuttal

The team of Liam Neeson have released a comment strongly denying suggestions that he holds anti-vax sentiments.

"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be confused with being against vaccines," the comment reads. "Liam is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the global charity underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."

The statement continued that the star did not shape the documentary's narrative and that questions about its content are best addressed to the filmmakers.

Central Claims Featured in the Film

As presented, the narration spoken by Neeson makes several strong statements:

  • It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "complete compliance" to health authorities.
  • It posits that "research has become deeply politicised."
  • Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
  • It takes aim at stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
  • On the topic of Covid vaccines, it references a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."

Past Background and Recent Debates

The documentary also references a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the focus of a BBC apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.

Recently, the political figure instructed the CDC to revise its long-held position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the film, contrary to a new report from the global health body confirming no such link has been found.

An Earlier Position of Endorsement

Differing from the film's tone, Neeson has previously shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a charity ambassador.

Previously, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."

The film concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This isn't the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
