PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
