The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with utilizing the entire amount of seized Russian holdings to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany emphasized that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They further noted that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the United States.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russia's resources since Moscow began its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's funds had solely been taken from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to advance efforts toward using the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign holdings to conclude the conflict.

He noted that more restrictions soon would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This announcement is subsequent to European Union representatives convened in the Danish capital previously to debate using frozen Russian holdings for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

Recently, President Donald Trump encouraged G7 allies to take or employ seized Russian funds, based on news outlets.

The worth of frozen Russian funds in the EU is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government launched large-scale aerial attacks throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Two people were lost their lives and at least 20 people were injured in the strike, authorities in Ukraine said.

In a update on social media after the attack, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike targeted non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not just talk but concrete steps - from the America, EU, and the seven nations - in providing defense mechanisms and implementing restrictions," he stated.

"Every sanction decision diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to join the weapons procurement program, under which alliance members buy military equipment from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the United Kingdom's strong support for Ukraine, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the system, as well as apply more restrictions on the Russian Federation.
