Both Deceased Students Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who died in the weekend's violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a police operation at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our city”.

The assailant began shooting inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the news agency.

Officers that raided the lodging recovered two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, friends, and fellow students and grieve for of his potential.”

Broader Statistics

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about thousands of bachelor's and three thousand graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in this year, according to statistics. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
