The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger About Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Backlash

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
