In a unexpected collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, the game developer has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "A strange confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine group.

The adventure concentrates on "strange tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Changes

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana in addition to multiple objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This release also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
