A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently declared “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
